Boba Guys taps Solana for Loyalty Rewards Program

US-based drink retailer Boba Guys recently tapped the blockchain platform Solana for a loyalty rewards program. This comes after the Solana Foundation invested $100,000 into Boba Guys. The move is part of Boba Guys’ Web3 rewards initiative which will use Solana’s high-speed, low-cost network to integrate non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and token-gated experiences in order to boost consumer engagement.

Solana Unveils ‘Saga’ Device

Solana recently unveiled the flagship security conscious crypto first Android device Saga. The device features a Seed Vault which makes it a hardware wallet with no friction associated with digital assets. It is now available to customers who preordered and will be available starting on May 8th for new orders.

Boba Guys Web3 Initiative

Boba Guys opened its doors in 2011 and is seeking to deepen its community by giving back to their customers through their Web3 reward initiative that utilizes NFTs and token gated experiences powered by the Solana network. Co-founder Bin Chen said: “People that come into our stores may not know a single thing about Web3, Solana, blockchain, or any of these things just the same way that people that come into Boba Guys may not know anything about boba.“

The head of commerce business development at the Solana Foundation commented on the selection by Boba Guys saying: “Their vision for the future of cafes and retail is a model that could become the standard in years to come…This collaboration will show how loyalty programs can be improved for both customers and retailers and create a path for other organizations to follow.“

Other Retailers Embracing Web 3 Loyalty Programs

Other retailers have also been embracing web 3 loyalty programs as well in an effort to deepen customer relations such as what was done in December 2022 when McDonald’s implemented its own version of this program across all its stores around Europe.
